Authentic Heart of Gay Romantic Fiction

That's more like it!
Companion Required - 5 out of 5 Stars
When you read a lot of m/m fiction, you get very tired of a certain kind of trope where one of the romantic pair is kinda flighty but feisty, intent on doing a lot of bullishly stupid things that the smoldering, level-headed man of few words will have to rescue him from one way or another. So it's refreshing when the characters are both level-headed, intelligent and grounded. Beyond that, Companion Required is much more my type of romantic fantasy, intelligently written, subtle. Oh, and the sex is not written like a how-to manual where the writer is trying to demonstrate all they have learned all about what it feels like to have mansex. I don't need a chart. The book delighted, excited, and has me wondering what else Brian Lancaster has written.

A Wonderful, Well Written Story!
Companion Required - 5 out of 5 Stars
This is one of the best stories I've read this year. The fake boyfriend trope might lead you to believe it's the same as every other story you've read in this vein but this particular one stands head and shoulders above those. It's more substantial, more mature in presentation. Every character had their own distinct personality. Friends and family blending seamlessly into the storyline of Kennedy and Kieran's temporary relationship. Not to say there wasn't strife along the way with an ex of Kennedy's and a pseudo friend (friends?) of theirs who very publicly voiced disparaging and venomous attacks towards both Kennedy and Kieran. Companion Required may have started off as a temporary arrangement but grew into a caring, loving and committed relationship that was beautiful to witness. I highly recommend this story as one I will most definitely read again. Brilliant read!

Perfect Blend of So Many Wonderful Things
Uninvited Guest - 5 out of 5 Stars
Transporting in the best way, you, dear reader, won't feel like an uninvited guest in this immersive literary romance. I felt invited to the table of friends instead of outside looking in. The author's descriptions are lovely. The touch of paranormal a flavor rather than a hit. Smartly written, fun, a tad spooky, and achingly romantic, this is just the novel you need if you're looking for a dreamy escape.
